PERSONAL
I am currently surrounded by the Palouse area’s rolling hills and ever verdant fields. This unique region of northern Idaho and eastern Washington offers all seasons and all terrains. It also houses the University of Idaho, from which I received my B.S. in Psychology, and Washington State University, where I just completed my M.A. in Human Development. I am currently working as a teacher/counselor for adults with disabilities helping them find and maintain jobs
I grew up in McCall Idaho, surrounded in all directions by mountains, forests, lakes, and meadows. With so much raw inspiration, it was an easy first step to pick up a camera and start snapping photos. My first camera was an old Minolta handed down from my parents. Like so many others, my initiation to photography came while visiting one of our many national parks. The abundance of elk in velvet and buffalo grazing were too much for me to resist; I have been in fascinated ever since.

PHOTOGRAPHIC
As my photography progressed I focused on the simplicity and contrast of intricacy of the natural world. Most often my photos feature natural elements displayed in a special light. I often focus on pattern, texture and contrasting elements. Generally, I make only slight alteration to my photographs; nothing more than one could do in a dark room.
My first camera was a Pentax ZX-30 SLR with a SMC Pentax-FA 28-80mm 1:3.3-5.6 zoom lens. I used this combination for years until I added a Promaster AF 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 LD Tele-Macro (1:2) lens. However, being a member of the digital generation, I quickly moved to a digital SLR. I am currently using a Pentax K100D which came with 18-55 mm 3.5-5.6 DA Pentax KAF lens. I stuck with the Pentax brand because I have been really pleased with the quality of photos and the durability of the bodies and lenses, but most importantly, because of the K-Mount feature allowing all Pentax lenses to work on all Pentax cameras. I love the Pentax K100 because I have all the flexibility and control offered by traditional 35mm cameras minus the cost of film and processing. It also allows me to have all the flexibility of a darkroom in one program on my computer.
