This statue sits at the North end of the Belvedere Courtyard in the Vatican Museum often referred to as the Cortile della Pigna (Courtyard of the Pine Cone). Flanked by two peacocks, this bronze pine cone was constructed in the 1st or 2nd century and used to serve as a fountain before it was dismantled and sent to the Vatican.
This fountain is in the Plaza Novana in front of the Sanata Maria dell’ Anima church in Rome. It is about 4 blocks from the pantheon.
